i could unironically main civ. i havent lost a single round after the steam release in which i played as the civ
 
right now i'm maining sniper and heavy, situationally pyro/soldier/scout. bought kovaaks today and even after an hour's sesh of training i sense insane improvement, effortlessly went 4kdr on harvest. if i keep this up as a routine it's gonna be something good.
 
(not to mention i was also on the winning team of tf2c's 4v4 competitive tournament as medic. i just don't play medic that much in pubs unless i can work with another high skilled player on a dps class)
 
unfortunately we don't have tf2c leagues, so rip vip maining, it would be funny tho to have a TF2C team on ETF2L that, and all 9 players would commit to only using weapons tf2c has, and no hats
 
maybe all 9 would be hard because i can't imagine competing on med without the crossbow or spy without the c&d, etc.
 
i do miss the comptf2c server, it barely got any activity after the steam release. i do hope as summer is rolling around that activity will be back up soon. i really gotta feel my skills out in an actual competitive environment again.
 
truly shame but as you're saying we'll see, last year iirc around this time there were most games played on comptf2c
 
I would not be opposed to putting some infrastructure back up if there's enough interest in comp games
 
alttab and comptf2c already have the infrastructure in place, it's just a distinct lack of interest to come play
 
That's fair- I meant more in terms of if we wanted to form an official vf4 team or something and have a private place to practice
 
how can i work for the pc version, unless you count buying a russian cd key for $30-$40

good idea until you remember that the idea of team coaches in tf2 scene is basically nonexistent lol. in bigger esports sure but definitely not on this scene.
 
comptf2c is in a bit of a sad state with a combination of "everyone got too busy to run" and "when we have tried, nobody joined" which just makes people less inclined to reserve that time
 
Anyway one tournament implementation of VIP is to have a neutral swing VIP who plays both teams lol. So you could be a VIP main in theory
 
i'm not really keen on the idea of neutral VIPs that much outside of just general pugs/mixes. because the player could have bias towards playing better for a specific team. like, yknow, matchfixing and stuff. or even just not having proper info on specific strats a team may have discussed internally.
