I have to agree.... At this point in the MOBA world, with 2 free ones out there with millions of players (DOTA/LOL), another 2 with very large player bases (Smite/HON), and several others at various stages due to their quirks (Awesomenauts/SMNC).... They're releasing into a saturated market and...

It might have been (probably was) a filter capacitor, and it did its job, but doing its job means it can't do its job again... so yeah, need to replace it, and should look at a little desktop-sized UPS/power conditioner to put on your desk if you get nasty spikes like that when your power goes...

Find a copy of "Pimp: The Backhanding" for less than $100. There's one on ebay right now, but the extortionist wants $300 for it because it's rare. It's suuuper rare, and I have some friends that would be willing to pitch in for up to $100, but $300 is stupid.

Yeah, if someone wanted a list of "what games must I absolutely own for the NES", you just listed all of them except super mario bros 1-3. That's the top 8 for me, then add Final Fantasy and Kid Icarus to round out a nice top 10 games for me.

I know this feeling very very well. The tech job market isn't too terrible right now, things are starting to look up. I switched jobs 7 months ago after being loyal to one place for 6 years. I asked for a counteroffer of $1/hr and got nothing. Leaving was a great decision.
