How to make an animated avatar?

I have an animated .gif but it won't play. I don't see the size requirements anywhere. :'( It's only 122 kb

I think we've had this before... it had something to do with the automated resizing xenforo does on the avatars themselves.

The standard one beside the post is 96x96, but I don't know if changing to that size will do anything as a variety of sizes are used elsewhere.
