never estimate how long running memtest on old machines takes. it was like AN HOUR to do one pass on an ancient AMD CPU, it was like 1.6GHz peak, single core/thread. only 4gb of ram too.

AMD used to overvolt their processing units like hasan piker's dog, dude. 82 celsius in fucking memtest.

dont even get me started on the early RX GPUs. you could undervolt them and get MORE performance for FREE. my old laptop with an A10 APU used to hit over 90 celsius in MINECRAFT. it used to throttle playing HALF LIFE 2 ON LOW SETTINGS. and that's with throwing alllll kinds of cooling on it that i could. i think i managed to almost boil water on the palmrest once

anyway- turns out the terabyte hard drive i've pulled to test's getting read errors. plus a read speed half-life (coining this term) of 15 seconds, where it slowly drops from like 110mb/s at the beginning to under 55mb/s in that time. shame, coulda sold for a billion trillion dollars.
