it is effectively the same principle as current LLMs, just with a _very_ tiny dataset of a few hundred messages and some number of recent shoutbox messages
 
it even supports basic 'prompting" with /autoreply [word]
 
otherwise it picks a random one to start generating a sentence around
 
Otherwise for each chat message there's somewhere around an 8% chance it inserts a random response
 
there is a "vaultbot Quotes thread" in the spam forum which documents some of its more lucid and hilarious antics.
 
Where does one autoprompt it or is it a privilege only afforded to the creator? A 0.0001% chance of it saying "I am a robot. I'm here to steal American jobs." would be really funny.

Correction, the right saying is "I am a robot. I'm here to take American jobs." cause it's a Soldier voiceline from live TF2.
