ok so valve screwed up something and now spy watches show the cloak usage backwards, points cap blue to red on the wheel and the map is only doing one side attacking instead of both (essentially half the map)

Well, that's interesting... WTF.
Since when has it been doing this?

Edit: I wonder if it's an issue arising from today's optional update. Supposedly for Big picture support in Source engines.

that might be it, from what i heard it all just started happening today

I can confirm this is not related to our servers. It appears to be related to the big picture client update, so it will be up to valve to release a fix.

Confirmed on HLDS mailing list, Eric says update incoming shortly to fix the issue.

I think there is a problem with the Dustbowl server.... For some reason it only plays Dustbowl. Should switch to B2B or PL. Dustbowl gets boring but seems to be the only server with people on it when I play. :banghead

Diagnosis: Known defect. Unable to fix without significant external support ;)

Are the servers in the valve list thing that allows people to join when they hit play now? or do you have to search to find the servers? i have no idea how all that stuff works so just asking.

All our servers are quickplay enabled (provided they run stock maps), so they should get traffic from both people pushing "play now" and people finding them in the server browser.

Last stats I saw showed there was 1 TF2 server for every 5 people... so market saturation is kind of a big problem until we get a good base of regulars going to keep them alive.

What about doing that 'thing' with the current player count? Maybe not as dramatic as the last time...so it's less...noticeable?

Nope. Valve asked us to stop (the reason it was removed in the first place), and "that" is a one-way track to getting your servers blacklisted, and having NO player influx at all.

The only other option would be bots in the server, and I get the general impression that's even more despised among the community than fake player counts.
