• Please DO NOT post in a ban contest thread unless you are:
    1. The person banned or posting a ban request.
    2. Senior Staff or part of the Ban Appeal Team.
This is necessary to keep threads on-topic and uncluttered. Thank you.

If you don't know why you were banned, you probably broke one of our server rules. Most bans are temporary except in the case of gross violations or repeated infractions.

Please do not post in a ban contest thread unless you are the original banning admin, or a senior member of staff. If you have concerns regarding a particular ban contest, please feel free to PM either LavaRed or MoiraPrime, the community managers with your concerns. This is so that the threads remain uncluttered and do not turn into arguments or debates.

NOTE: If you attempt to post and get a "server error", more than likely it means your message got stuck in the moderation queue (this is common with new users posting links). If this happens to you, you can check the ShoutBox to see if your thread was created successfully - it will still display the post title even if it is not yet visible to regular users. Thanks!

Ban Contesting:

To contest a ban, you may create a thread here containing the following information:
In-Game name:
Time of Ban:
Date of Ban:
Steam ID: (STEAM_0:x:xxxxxxx format, please - other formats will cause your appeal to be marked INVALID)
Reason for Ban:
Additional Comments:

Please note that threats, abuse, SHOUTING IN ALL CAPS, begging, grovelling, rule-lawyering, and anything other than calm, reasoned discussion will not help your case. Extreme instances can result in a temporary ban being upgraded to permanent.

IMPORTANT: Due to prior incidents of abuse by bad actors impersonating other players, we ask that you LINK YOUR STEAM PROFILE to the forums for easier verification of identity as the banned player.

Ban Requests:

To request a ban, you may create a thread here containing the following information:
In-Game name:
Time of Day:
Date:
Steam ID: (STEAM_0:x:xxxxxxx format, please)
Server Name:
Map:
Reason for Ban Request:
Link to Demo or other evidence: (This expedites the process immensely)
Additional Comments:

A NOTE REGARDING BAN REQUESTS:
While we may log some information for moderation or other security purposes, we do not keep it all indefinitely.
If you intend to report someone for breaking the above rules, keep the following under consideration:
  1. Chat logs are only retained for 28 days.
  2. SourceTV recordings are kept for at least 14 days and will be removed in the next cleanup cycle after that.
If you intend to report someone for breaking the rules, we need evidence to issue the ban. If your request relies on us finding the incident in our own logs, it is imperative that you include the Server Name, Map, Date and Time of the incident in your request. If you have used the in-game report function at the time of the incident, this is an acceptable substitute. We reserve the right to decline ban requests with insufficient detail for us to identify and review the incident objectively, or where logged data has already expired.
  • As of this writing we have thirteen different servers, which generate hundreds of log files and hours of SourceTV data every day. It's not practical for us to have to sift through all of that to find the two seconds relevant to "so-and-so said a slur and idk what server but it was sometime yesterday or maybe the day before" type requests.

Thank you.
