Sir "Let's Play"
Before anyone jumps me, let me be clear about GTA in general. I didn't play much of it. We had GTA 3 or 4 on the Xbox ages ago. When I played that, I input cheat codes for all weapons, invincibility, all that great stuff. I spent my time on a motorcycle, going up and down the highway, shooting people in cars or stealing better bikes. That's my experience on GTA.
This game is far better.
The game starts off with you robbing a bank. Honestly, after I did this in Saints Row 3, this one felt meh. But we do meet 2 of the characters we'll be playing later on. More on that soon. Basically, the robbery is the tutorial. Learn how to aim, shoot, set off explosives, switch players and driving. WOOH DRIVING.
After that, we see how sweet the transitions are between characters. Smooth stuff. We get to play as our first character, Franklin. And he has the BEST FUCKING ABILITY! Slow time as you drive. We're talking about being able to go 100mph, slow time and take a turn that's 5 feet away. It's pure awesome. The driving is pretty easy, with the exception of the FIRST car you get as Franklin.
Missions themselves aren't too bad. You can help some dumb slut with towing cars. I really hope she dies later in the game, I can't stand her. And naturally you've got gang stuff.
Eventually we get to Michael, the second character. He is pure awesome. Rich guy, 2 shitty kids and a cheating wife. And Michael himself seems to only be bored with his life until he's doing heists and killing folk. I love this guy. Sadly, he has no ability (as of yet anyway).
With him comes a lot of cop chasing. The best part is cops have a field of vision. Basically, get away from them, hide in an alley. Hell, climb a roof top to be safe.
The downside to Michael? His kids. His daughter is probably one of the most annoying characters so far, I hope I get the choice of saving/killing her later on. His son is just a lazy sack of shit, so again, let's hope for a save/kill situation. So far, the game has been very bleh when it comes to choices. Haven't seen much of the wife so I don't care.
Finally, we come to where I'm at in the game. Trevor.
I. Fucking. Hate. Him.
I'm curious to see who the fourth character is, because Trevor is a massive letdown. He tells a story about him being in the military (I think?) and he was told he was basically to fucking crazy to stay. And he is. Not in the cool way, unfortunately. He's just a hillilly, crazy fucking douche. He fucks some guys woman, then when the guy is all "I don't like you doing that", he STOMPS HIS HEAD IN.
I mean, there can be a "good" crazy, you know? But this guy is not it. He's just stupid. Someone takes your seat in a bar? Tail him to his home, kill his wife in front of him, burn down house with him inside. That's his logic.
Thankfully, I got far enough with him that I can play the others.
So far, the game has been great. I'm excited to see who my fourth guy is and I hope I get to him today. Won't be any full "review" of this game for awhile, because it seems to be huge. That and I'll be busy starting tonight.
