Here's something I'd like to toss out to the community to percolate some ideas and feedback. It's an interesting idea for a minecraft server that would be something rather different and I think it could be a lot of fun.
Basic Idea: Minecraft basewars/fortwars.
During the week, the server is in creative mode and anyone is welcome to build forts. On weekends (5AM CST saturday->5AM CST monday, when the server has scheduled reboots), the server switches to PVP & survival mode, and people must now try to "raid" other people's forts and steal their treasure.
What I'm trying to get a feel for is the finer aspects of gameplay and the ruleset we would be looking at.
Here's what's been proposed so far, some things have multiple ideas and remains to be decided.

- Your base _must_ have a usable path to get to your treasure room. As long as it's traversable in some way, it doesn't matter how treacherous/confusing/long you make it.
- All treasure looted must be stored in your own loot room (and it is therefore lootable by someone else)
- Dropped loot (e.g. from a death) is for anyone to pick up.
- Team efforts for both raids and fort-building allowed.
- No base destruction? Or maybe a subset of blocks that are "allowed" to be broken in a raid? Or base destruction by owner preference?
- At the end of the pvp session, people can post screenshots of their treasure room loot for status.
- One chest of "loot" will be the start per person; you can't take more than you can carry, obviously; the idea here is that as the loot distribution changes (e.g. better raiders hoard more) they'll also need to focus on their bases more to keep people from stealing it. This means that group base efforts will have one chest of loot per person building that base.
- One central treasure room? Or should spreading your loot around be permitted? (This doesn't mean you can't make "fake" treasure rooms, just whether loot should be stored centrally or not)
- If you're not participating in the raid aspect and just want to build a giant base, build an obsidian wall around it. Raiders will be in survival mode and it'll be pretty clear they're not meant to enter.
- Access would be by vote-whitelist; that is, existing whitelisted members will vote on whether a new applicant is whitelisted.
