[Minecraft] Interest Check: Vanilla Server

Just throwing out a check to see if anyone would be interested in a vanilla minecraft server. We've found a server management agent that appears to provide a better stability than our old MC configs, and keeping a limited world size will help keep stability via smaller map files, which helps use less RAM. I'm willing to get it set up if people will play on it, and I've had a few different people express interest in vanilla over heavily mod-based servers.

That is just about the only way I care to play anymore. It is not that I dislike some light modding, but I hate tons over the top expansion.

The overly-modded servers always tend to have 3-4 mods that don't "play well" with each other. If I put up a vanilla server, it will have the 2-3 plugins needed to properly manage it through the new management interface, with a good whitelist/permissions mod, and that's IT. The management software is a license that we'd pay for that would provide regular updates, and even support for the server if we have issues, which makes it nice. Trying to get all of the mod devs to keep their stuff updated is horrid when they're free.

I just want to be able to have a little farm and then build a deathtrap/maze/dungeon underneath my very simple homestead =p

I'm obviously very interested and will be bringing a number of IRL friends into the community and onto the server if we get it running. They're not really big time PC gamers but have really enjoyed minecraft on the Xbox and are now looking to play together via their desktops/laptops but need a server. Anyway I'll vouch for these guys and let em know the rules and what not. Plus I'll play as well, FTB is just a bit over the top for me.

+1 to the idea. Is it funny that mods get boring faster than vanilla? In vanilla you build to be creative... in modded worlds you build because theres an end game.
IMHO

I would play on it also I would like to see if it helps my whole crashes thingy.

Would world guard protect all i build, everywhere, or only in a 50x50 plot?

the only problem i could see right now is that many of the people playing on FTB may only be there for the mods...perhaps a pole on the FTB server would be useful to gather the data for those that actually play on the server.

/2 cents

I don't think this is talking about taking down FTB for the Vanilla server Insanity.

This would be a server in addition to FTB.

I'm not sure how FTB inhibits creativity.
Could you explain more?
I mean, we've had a fair share of 50 foots penises haven't we?

I do have to admit, there is one thing when it comes to mods I like and it is so very simple. Coordinates.
