[Resolved] NA server question

Has the location of NA servers changed recently, or experienced any other issue? In the past week I've noticed higher latency for myself. I've ran internet speed tests and they seem normal, so I was wondering if VF4 servers are the cause of it.

Nothing has changed on our end, no. Everything has been running the same and we've made no location or infrastructure changes.

How severe of an increase are we talking here? Is it stable or is it variable? Latency is highly dependent on routing and other conditions, and depending on what you're seeing there are some things we can do to dig in.

Chiming in here, I've noticed other people mentioning similar problems in the discord, so this incident might not be isolated to just Kos.

apparently i got around 300 - 350 ping in NA servers today, can't really tell is it my internet connection or there is some issue going on, usually i got around 250 ping in NA

Judging based on old screenshots from about a month ago, it's increased from an average of 45 to 75-80. The connection is very stable, I hardly see fluctuations.
Additionally, while I'm not too knowledgeable on networking, I've noted that download/upload latency sits at about 45ms, compared to an idle latency of 10ms. I ran the tests with https://www.speedtest.net/

One possible way to identify bottlenecks is using a traceroute to examine the path being followed by traffic from you to our server (na.vaultf4.com). You can either post the results here or DM me if you would prefer to keep IP addresses private, and we can look at it to see if there are any obvious points where the latency is being introduced. It may not be as informative as comparing it to a "before" run but we may be able to get some info from it.

For reference, the results I received showed really poor traffic routing within Comcast's own network that explained the added latency. So if anyone else having this issue is in the central or southern US and on Comcast, it's not unreasonable you're similarly affected.
