New Xbox Reveal In May!

Worst reveal event?

He forgot that he watched the PS4 reveal...

Watching the video, I want to comment on what he said.

He is talking about how he should be able to play a game that his friend already bought. This issue is one that Microsoft created themselves. Allowing us the install a game FULLY so we don't have to use a disc. If they didn't do that, then they could allow people to lend games to friends and play with no bullshit fee.

And Mandatory installation is why I buy less games for PS3, then Xbox. HOnestly, I hate the mandatory installation. When I get a game, I don't want to wait and buy, I want to jump on in to the campaign, not wait an hour.

Edit: Also 2 links in the description of that video provide the following Microsoft statement

"While Phil [Harrison] discussed many potential scenarios around games on Xbox One, today we have only confirmed that we designed Xbox One to enable our customers to trade in and resell games at retail," They do still have time to remove the mandatory install, and the Used game fee.

Thanks for the video 13thforsworn. Now I have new sound clips for TF2.

Also, every time there's a new generation there's always talk about how Xbox, PS, Nintendo, or PC's are gonna die that generation. They never do.

But each generation they sell a little less, their hardware is a little more buggy, and their games are a little less entertaining. I think in the near future we're going to be surprised at how much the "big 3" have fallen and how much of the market share the "little guys" (like the Ouya) have. I can't wait for Ouya, the Steam Box, and maybe someone else to come out of the woodwork and make the big 3 start working for their business again.

Sony's response to the Xbox One is actually kinda hilarious. Microsoft needs some burn ointment.

Still, it happened. That's happy news for many of the whiny prats out there. =P

For me, I'm just amazed it happened. This shit doesn't happen ever...

Yeah remember how the PS3 touted so much? You could have your own OS installed? With every update they remove more and more. I'm sure the Xbox One will follow suit. They won't do it on release to please people, but give it a year or 2.

Viva la PC

What annoys me is the comments on most videos. Gamers are truly just stupid lately. They remove all the things that people bitched about and instead of being happy, everyone just says "microsoft just wants money". Or even worse, the comment of "they could just turn the drm back on AFTER you all buy it".

Oh well, just means I won't deal with these morons on live anymore. Good.

Or, ya know, anyone that didn't get an xbox one for free, because MS isn't going to actually SELL any.

They shot themselves in the foot, and not just a little bit. They've ruined any chance they had of making this console a success, and any chance of having exclusivity with any good console designer in the future. They focused on turning their game console into something that isn't a game console, and did it with all of the absolute worst customer service decisions possible. They wanted to provide SaaS, but approached it in a manner that applied corporate software licensing practices to consumers. They were then surprised when it backfired in their faces (Surprise! People still like to own the things they buy!) and rescinded it about 2 months too late. They dug their own grave and jumped in head-first.

They could. They've already announced having plans for it with a" deal with it" attitude and only took it back after a giant backlash. Once you buy it they can do what they want.

Pretty sure sony tried something like that by removing the "other OS" feature on the PS3. They got hit with a class-action lawsuit.

The way I see it, and maybe I'm wrong, is that with all the DRM and shit removed, you are buying the console knowing you are getting it WITHOUT that. Couldn't we look that zombie survival game? The game that promised a bunch of features and when a bunch of people preordered, the game had jack shit?

And at the end of the day there's still no Install Other OS option. With every product or game you buy you have to accept the ToU and EULA before you use it. I'm sure they'll add in a clause about being able to add any type of updates they want.

And they still never had to pay anything or put it back on.... it sucks.

I don't care if they rescinded their plans or not. The fact that they planned on doing it in the first place should be enough to turn anyone away from them.

But the fact that they listened to us means we can actually change shit. Obviously many people DID turn away from them when it came to prebuying the console.

It's gonna have to be up to Microsoft to prove themselves to the consumers, not the other way around. You shouldn't have to stick up for a company before a product is even released. They should be bending over backwards to make people want to buy their console, which they have not.

So, doing a 180 on everything they said is NOT proving themselves? At all?

Actions speak louder than words. If it's that easy to cancel it, it's that easy to reinstate it or something else equally stupid. I have no plans on ever buying another console, so take that for what it's worth.
