Unless there's a lack of evidence, I'm not going to handwave decisions by others just from my own gut feeling. It seems unfortunate but is not in error

It may be excessive when considered in isolation, however it should be noted that past infractions and history (not all of which is apparent externally) are taken into account when reviewing appeals.

People that make it to the point of being permanently banned with no further chance of appeal have either committed an egregious violation of our community rules in one go, or have had sufficient chances that they should have known better by that point.

from my point of view, this sets a precedent that players simply should not interact with the mod team, playful or otherwise. I do not think creating that sort of barrier is healthy for the community

history definitely should be considered when applying punishment. you said yourself that their behaviour was notably improving, so does this look like they are being provided a chance to rehabilitate? they weren't even reached out to before given a ban

i don't think i understand what the rule violation was in this scenario, and i find that kind of concering. sure, bad history, but what did he even do wrong here? i've read the rules quite a few times now and i'm struggling to figure it out. maybe i'm missing context

It's ridiculous to put it lightly. Guy had been on his very tippy top best behaviour since getting unbanned and then gets banned over harmless playful teasing. This could've been solved and prevented from happening in the future with a simple verbal warning and yet 2 other people with no prior offenses got a 3 day silence.
