[SimCity 2013] Vault Region

I went through and upgraded most of my roads...it was madness traffic jams in the downtown area. Now they are all major with street car and still get bottled up. I will probably start a new city eventually if not to many other people come in and play its getting to a weird point where lots of abandoning because nowhere to ship products, and bottlenecks that tie up cops, ambulances, and firetrucks.

Have you considered expanding your transit system with buses too? I do not have street cars, but a nice bus system took away a lot of my traffic issues. Also, maybe you should not have upgraded all of your road density so immediately. I only upgraded as needed according to the zoning growth numbers. I also wonder why you are having so much abandonment for nowhere to ship products, being in a region with two others have removed that problem completely. Are you sure that is the cause for abandonment? It could be something do with with other factors too.

Thats the reason the buildings are saying it. Yes I have buses, trains, streetcars :D There is quite a bit of density near the middle of my city I am nearing 70k population so everyone is crammed into one spot ...I didn't give them enough houses so they built up instead of sideways.

fast expansion might be part of the issue. I am finding this new SimCity seems to appreciate slower balanced growth. However, beyond that I read somewhere that Maxis specifically made it more difficult to maintain a city as it grows to provide a continuous challenge to running the city instead of plateauing out when you reach a certain point.

Yes I think thats what is going on, as you get bigger you need to start relying on a better populated region. I have been thinking the game is way way way to easy and am looking forward to a little bit of a challenge as the city gets larger.

I am an odd player who actually likes having a smaller city while keeping everyone as happy as possible. Even though I am going to try and save my current city, I cannot help but see some definite mistakes I made that would be corrected if I started over (not counting maximizing road/space usage, I like all my impractical curved roads thank you very much). It would be nice if you could completely remove a city instead of only being able to abandon it; I like my land plot.

Yea I had some factories that were mad that they had no way to ship stuff. I was eventually able to build a train station and put down a shipping area next to it so I can try and get stuff out faster through the trains.

I wonder if it would be possible to build a city with minimal industry and focus on commercial, sending your sims to other cities to work, but other sims coming to your town to shop...

I think so :) As long as other cities have enough jobs to offer otherwise you start getting homeless people wandering around and abandoned houses because of no money...it starts looking like Detroit.

Yea you can, I saw someone do that on a livestream. That's why when you look at the demands it has the city demand and then the darker color is the region demand. So basically a region can take away your demand if it is fulfilled.

That is a neat little option I may have to try down the line. Took me most of my lunch hour, but I have my city somewhat recovered. The sewage issue is an on and off thing now, I need to build up some funds and move slowly. On the plus side I was able to get my Tech College up and running.

May I suggest starting a new Vault region where we try and plan things out more. A few more of us have the game now and, once a learning phase has come and gone, it would be nice to work together more especially when it comes to building that have region wide effect.

Got me. I am still without my computer for another day or two assuming all the new parts work and I do not have to RMA anything.

Well I would be willing to start such a region if enough people are willing to play on it.

I'm willing to play on a new region but the game is still broken as hell, all weekend I have been trying to get my trade depots to ship out product and get my recycling center to actually pick up stuff. I've already given up on the first vault region because both my cities glitched big time and since there is no wipe option so they are kind of stuck.

Send me an invite, my city in Vault of Wonders had a nuke blow up and now I have to wait 30yrs of ingame time for it to go away which will take a long ass time without cheetah speed.
