I use FreeCAD and openSCAD, and they run fine on *nix

Yeah, I left there a few years ago,

honestly last time I tried freecad it was a shitshow

freecad takes some getting used to

because the documentation was all over the place and half the time the instructions for "how to do x" relied on something that had been moved or removed

These days I use Solid Edge Community

A lot ofthe shitshow came from being burried in C&D letters for every feature.

software patents are cancer

and it actually runs just fine in a VM

with less than a gig of memory in use

mostly I use the CAD stuff for my 3D printing

unlike autodesk's bloated piece of trash

adobe/autodesk are banned at my house

I moved to SE back when they nerfed the free F360 licenses

also every update (i.e. monthly) broke and needed a reinstall and finagling in wine

it takes some getting used to but the day it fully works in wine will be a happy day for me
